What styles, looks and designs is SPC available in?

SPC offers more design variety than any other wood-look flooring category - and at the premium end the print and texture quality is genuinely indistinguishable from real wood, marble or stone from standing height. Material Depot stocks over 1,500 SPC SKUs grouped into six broad design families.

1. WOOD LOOK - THE LARGEST CATEGORY. Over 900 SKUs at MD across oak (natural, smoked, washed, fumed, white-oiled, dark stained), walnut (American walnut, European walnut, dark walnut), teak (Burmese teak look, Indian teak - extremely popular in Indian homes), maple, hickory, pine, ash, and reclaimed/distressed wood looks. Plank widths range from narrow 130-150mm planks for traditional looks, through 180-200mm "standard" widths, to wide 220-240mm planks for premium contemporary interiors. Plank lengths range from 900mm to 1500mm+ for the most luxurious looks.

2. HERRINGBONE AND CHEVRON. The fastest-growing design segment. Herringbone planks are typically smaller (600x100mm or 600x150mm) and laid in the classic L-pattern. Chevron planks are cut at 45° or 60° angles and laid in zigzag. Both patterns work beautifully in foyers, living rooms, dining rooms and master bedrooms. The pattern itself drives a 2-3x premium impact vs straight-lay wood look. At MD we stock oak herringbone, walnut herringbone, multi-tone herringbone, and contemporary grey/charcoal herringbone.

3. MARBLE AND STONE LOOK. SPC in marble look is one of the most underrated design choices - it gives you the visual of marble flooring at 1/4 the cost, with the warmth and acoustic comfort of vinyl underfoot. We stock white Carrara, beige/cream marble, black Marquina, Calacatta, travertine, slate and limestone looks. Plank or large-format tile-style cuts (600x600mm, 1200x600mm).

4. TILE LOOK / LARGE FORMAT. Concrete, cement, microcement, polished plaster, terrazzo and geometric pattern designs. Popular in contemporary apartments and commercial spaces.

5. EMBOSSED-IN-REGISTER (EIR). Premium technology where the surface texture is precisely aligned with the printed wood grain - so the knots, grain lines and pores you see also feel correct underfoot. This is the most realistic wood-look SPC available; the difference vs flat-printed SPC is dramatic when you touch it.

6. PLAIN / SOLID TONES. Minimal, single-colour SPC for very contemporary or commercial interiors. Greys, off-whites, charcoals, taupes.

FINISH OPTIONS (the surface sheen):

1. MATTE - the most popular finish for premium residential. Looks like oil-finished real wood. Doesn't show scratches or scuffs.

2. SATIN / SILK - soft sheen, slightly more reflective than matte. Good for living rooms.

3. SLIGHT GLOSS - popular in commercial showrooms where light bounce is wanted.

4. TEXTURED / HAND-SCRAPED - physical hand-scraped feel, hides minor wear, very premium look.

5. BRUSHED - fine linear texture that mimics wire-brushed real oak, accentuating grain.
